How this calculator works
A United States quarter is worth twenty-five cents, or one quarter of a dollar. Converting quarters to dollars divides the count by four, and converting dollars to quarters multiplies by four. A standard roll holds 40 quarters, which is $10.00. Dollar amounts that are not a multiple of 25 cents produce a fractional number of quarters, such as 0.5 quarters for 12.5 cents.
Formula
dollars = quarters x 0.25 = quarters / 4. quarters = dollars x 4. Quarters per dollar = 4. A roll of 40 quarters is $10.00.
Worked example
40 quarters is $10.00. 4 quarters is $1.00. $2.50 is 10 quarters. 1,000 quarters is $250.00.
