Accountability

Nexa Systems Inc., which operates the site under the trade name Mathulate, is responsible for the personal information under its control and for the practices described in this policy. We follow the fair information principles of Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), where it applies.

The person responsible for privacy at Nexa Systems Inc. can be reached at [email protected]. That is also the address for every request described on this page.

What is collected and why

The calculator pages need no account and ask for no personal information. The information the site does handle falls into three categories, and each is described in full below:

  • Settings and lists in your browser, which stay on your device and are not sent to us.
  • Server request logs, recorded automatically by the web server.
  • An ad-block check, which sends a request to Google but carries no personal information beyond what any web request reveals.

We collect this information only for the purposes described in this policy: to deliver the site, to remember your settings, to keep the site secure and to diagnose faults. We do not collect it for profiling, and we do not use it for any other purpose without asking you first.

What stays in your browser

The calculators do not need an account. Your settings and your lists are kept in your browser's localStorage under three keys: mathulate:theme for the light or dark choice, mathulate:last-used for the calculator you opened last, and mathulate:usage for your visits and favourites, including the calculator names and paths and when each was used.

This information is stored by your browser on your device. It is not sent to Mathulate, and it is not linked to an account. Clearing your browser's site data removes it. If your browser blocks storage, the site still works, but it will not remember your settings or your lists.

Accounts

Mathulate does not offer visitor accounts or membership at present. Every calculator works without signing in, and no sign-up page is shown. If we introduce an account or membership feature, this page will describe what it collects before it opens.

The site also has a private administration area, used only by the operator to manage the site. Visitors do not use it, and it is not linked from any public page.

Server logs

Like most websites, the server records standard request information in its logs: the page requested, the date and time, the IP address the request came from, and the browser's user agent. These logs are used for security and to diagnose faults. They are not used to build a profile of individual visitors.

Ads and the ad-block check

Mathulate uses Google AdSense to fund its free calculators. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar storage and receive your IP address, browser details and the page you visit to deliver ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud. Calculator inputs, results, uploaded files and your saved calculator lists are not sent to Google by our ad integration. Ads may remain empty while Google reviews the site or when no ad is available.

Google manages advertising consent through its consent message. You can accept, refuse or manage your choices when the message appears, and reopen it through the privacy options control when available. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google ad settings.

To keep the site's advertising honest, the page checks whether an ad blocker is active. That check does two things: it loads a small local file, /ads/custom_ads.js, which only sets a flag, and it sends a HEAD request to pagead2.googlesyndication.com with credentials omitted and no referrer. The request carries no personal information and sets no cookie, but as with any web request it reveals your IP address and browser to that server. If ads are blocked, a dialog explains how to allow them; it does not read your history or your lists.

Cookies

The calculator pages set no cookies of their own, and the ad-block check sends none. Google AdSense and its consent service may use cookies or similar storage for advertising, consent choices, measurement and fraud prevention. A separate cookie keeps an administrator signed in to the private administration area, which visitors do not use.

Analytics

Mathulate does not run an analytics service. Google AdSense processes advertising and measurement data as described above. The calculator history and favourites features remain local to your browser.

Limited collection and retention

We collect only the information described on this page, and only as much of it as is needed for the purpose. Settings and lists in your browser stay there until you clear them. Account records for the private administration area are kept while the administrator account exists. Server logs are kept only as long as they are needed for security and troubleshooting, and are then deleted or anonymised in the ordinary course of running the server.

Accuracy

We try to keep the personal information we hold accurate and complete. If any information we hold about you is wrong, email us and we will correct it. You can also change or clear the settings and lists in your browser yourself at any time.

Safeguards

The private administration area stores administrator passwords only as salted hashes, never as plain text. Sign-in sessions use signed cookies, and the session secret and database connection address are taken from the server environment rather than written into the site's files. No safeguard is perfect, and we do not claim that a breach can never happen.

Openness

This policy is published on the site and is written to be read without a lawyer. It explains what we collect, why, where it goes, how long we keep it and how to reach us. If our practices change, this page changes with them, and the last updated date at the top records the change.

Your access and correction rights

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and tell us what the request is about. We will respond within 30 days as PIPEDA requires, or tell you if we need more time and why.

We may ask for enough information to confirm that you are the person the information belongs to, but we will never ask for your password. If we cannot give access to some information, for example because it would reveal another person's information or is legally privileged, we will tell you why in writing.

Service providers and cross-border processing

The site is hosted on servers operated by a hosting provider, which stores and serves the pages and processes the request information described above for us. The ad-block check described above sends a request to Google, whose servers are outside Canada, usually in the United States.

Information that is processed outside Canada is subject to the laws of the country where it is processed, and may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement and authorities of that country. Google AdSense and its consent service also process advertising data as described above. Google and its partners may process that information outside Canada. Google explains its practices and retention periods in its Privacy Policy.

No sale of personal information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not rent, trade or share it for money or other consideration. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.

Breach notification

If a breach of our security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm to an individual, we will report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and notify the affected people as PIPEDA requires. The notice will say what happened, what we have done about it and what the affected person can do to reduce the risk.

Children under 13

Mathulate is a general reference site and is not directed at children under 13. The calculators collect no personal information and work without it, and the site does not offer accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Challenging our compliance and complaints

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information or a request you made, contact us first at [email protected] and describe the problem. The person responsible for privacy at Nexa Systems Inc. will investigate and respond, normally within 30 days.

You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, 30 Victoria Street, Gatineau, Quebec K1A 1H3; telephone 1-819-994-5444 or toll free 1-800-282-1376; website www.priv.gc.ca.

Changes to this policy

This policy is reviewed when the site's data practices change. When it does, the last updated date at the top of this page changes too, and this section will describe any material change.
