How this calculator works

Antman 2000 assigned one point to each of seven factors in patients with unstable angina or NSTEMI. The 14-day endpoint combined all-cause death, new or recurrent MI and severe recurrent ischaemia requiring urgent revascularization. Rates for scores 0/1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6/7 were 4.7%, 8.3%, 13.2%, 19.9%, 26.2% and 40.9%. These are historical cohort rates, not a home chest-pain rule-out test. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.

Formula

TIMI UA/NSTEMI = sum of seven 0/1 factors, range 0 to 7. Each criterion contributes one point.

Worked example

Age 70 and aspirin in the prior week, with no other factors, give score 2 and an 8.3% historical composite event estimate. Adding elevated markers gives score 3 and 13.2%.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a risk of death alone?

No. It is a composite of death, MI and urgent revascularization for recurrent ischaemia.

Does aspirin cause risk in this model?

The score records recent use as a predictor in the study. It is not a causal statement or advice to stop aspirin.

Can a zero score exclude acute coronary syndrome?

No. The original low-score group still had events, and assessment requires a validated clinical pathway.
