How this calculator works
This uses the sex-specific Enright and Sherrill 1998 equations for first standardized six-minute walks in healthy adults aged 40 to 80. The lower reference limit subtracts 153 m for men or 139 m for women. Inverse modes are algebra demonstrations within that age range, not ways to determine actual age or body measurements from performance. Clinical testing requires a suitable supervised protocol. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.
Formula
Men: predicted metres = 7.57H - 5.02A - 1.76W - 309. Women: 2.11H - 5.78A - 2.29W + 667. H in cm, A in years, W in kg. Percent predicted = walked/predicted × 100.
Worked example
A 60-year-old man, 180 cm and 80 kg, has predicted distance 611.6 m and lower limit 458.6 m. Walking 500 m is 81.75% predicted.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use this for a child?
No. These adult reference equations were developed for ages 40 to 80.
Does a low result diagnose heart disease?
No. Many conditions and test circumstances affect walking distance.
Is the lower limit a performance target?
No. It is a statistical reference limit, not a prescribed exercise target.
