How this calculator works

Niantic describes hatching as walking an egg's required distance while it is in an incubator. This plan assumes eggs start together with the same required distance and that each new batch starts after the previous one finishes. It ignores events, progress already recorded and game tracking limits. Enter the distance currently shown by your game. The physical walking estimate uses an independently selected adult MET category; choose one matching your actual pace. The historical 3500-kcal-per-pound conversion is displayed only as an energy-accounting equivalent of energy above rest. Actual weight change is not predicted: intake, adaptation, body composition and other activity also matter. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.

Formula

Batches = ceiling(eggs / simultaneous incubations). Planned distance = batches × per-egg distance. Time = distance / speed. Gross kcal = MET × body weight(kg) × hours. Energy above rest = (MET - 1) × weight × hours. Historical equivalent(lb) = above-rest kcal / 3500.

Worked example

One 2 km egg-distance goal at 4 km/h takes 30 minutes. At 60 kg and 3 MET, this is 90 kcal gross or 60 kcal above rest. Six 5 km goals walked three at a time require two batches and 10 km in this simplified plan.

Frequently asked questions

Will the game record every metre I walk?

This tool cannot determine that. Game settings, tracking and current mechanics may differ; consult the game's own help and displayed progress.

Does the mass equivalent predict weight loss?

No. A fixed calorie-to-mass conversion cannot model individual weight change. It is labelled as a historical arithmetic equivalent only.

Why select METs separately from speed?

The energy estimate requires an activity category that reflects the actual walk, including pace and surface. The game-distance calculation alone cannot identify effort.
