How this calculator works
This page reports a same-mass-unit progesterone-to-estradiol ratio: progesterone in ng/mL is multiplied by 1000 to pg/mL before dividing by estradiol in pg/mL. Input units are normalized before calculation using Mayo Clinic Laboratories conversion factors. A ratio does not establish a diagnosis, a hormonal balance target or a reason to start or adjust treatment. Timing, assay method and individual clinical circumstances affect interpretation. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.
Formula
P/E2 = 1000 × progesterone ng/mL / estradiol pg/mL. Estradiol pg/mL × 3.671 = pmol/L. Progesterone ng/mL × 3.18 = nmol/L.
Worked example
Progesterone 10 ng/mL and estradiol 100 pg/mL give a same-unit mass ratio of 100. The same values in SI are 31.8 nmol/L and 367.1 pmol/L.

Frequently asked questions
Does the ratio have a universal normal range?
No. This tool does not assign a diagnostic threshold or treatment target.
Why does unit convention matter?
Dividing unconverted laboratory numbers can change the ratio by a factor of ten or a thousand.
Can I use this to adjust hormones?
No. Treatment decisions require the complete clinical context and an appropriate clinician.
