How this calculator works
The full Bishop score adds five findings from a clinician-performed cervical examination. Dilation, effacement and station each contribute up to 3 points, while consistency and cervical position each contribute up to 2. This page follows the ACOG table adapted from Bishop, not a cervical-length modification. The position is the cervix position, not the position of the fetal head. The score alone cannot determine whether induction is appropriate. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.
Formula
Bishop score = dilation + effacement + station + consistency + cervical position, from 0 to 13.
Worked example
Dilation 3 to 4 cm (2), effacement 60 to 70% (2), station -1 (2), soft cervix (2) and anterior position (2) totals 10.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use the number on its own?
No. A trained assessor must apply the referenced definitions and interpret the complete assessment.
Does a zero mean that nothing is wrong?
No. It means no points under this particular instrument, which covers only its listed domains.
Can I compare different versions?
Only with care. Changing item definitions or weights can change what a score means.
