How this calculator works

Guide-5A Table 4-1 provides twelve score levels for every age group and scoring sex. This page takes the highest qualifying published level for each performance and averages the three point values. It does not interpolate between levels. Probationary, 45 points, is the guide's lowest passing category; falling below it in any modality fails the PRT regardless of the other performances. If a modality falls below the table, its result is reported without inventing a numerical score or averaging an assumed zero. High-altitude Table 4-2, stationary-cycle calorie scoring, waivers and command-specific requirements are not supported. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.

Formula

Overall PRT points = (push-up points + forearm-plank points + cardio points)/3, provided each modality reaches a published level. Category boundaries are 90 Outstanding, 75 Excellent, 60 Good, 50 Satisfactory and 45 Probationary.

Worked example

For a male aged 17 to 19, 51 push-ups, a 1:42 plank and an 11:00 run each earn 60, averaging 60: Good. The same group's 92 push-ups, 3:24 plank and 8:15 run each earn 100: Outstanding.

Frequently asked questions

Which year and altitude are covered?

December 2025 Guide-5A, used for 2026, Table 4-1 for altitudes below 5,000 ft. Use the official high-altitude table when it applies.

Can a strong average compensate for a failed modality?

No. Each required modality must reach the published minimum. The result does not average an unlisted below-minimum score.

Does this determine an official PFA result?

No. A PFA also involves body composition and administrative requirements. A qualified CFL and the official recorded score control the result.
