How this calculator works
Hoster and colleagues developed MIPI for advanced-stage mantle cell lymphoma. This page implements the original continuous equation, using base-10 logarithms and WBC in cells/µL. A count entered in x 10^9/L is multiplied by 1000 first. ECOG 2 to 4 adds 0.6978. Optional biological MIPI adds 0.02142 per percentage point of Ki-67 and has a different upper risk boundary. It is not the later combined MIPI-c and is not a treatment selector. Risk groups describe the studied population rather than individual survival. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.
Formula
MIPI = 0.03535 x age + 0.6978 x I(ECOG>1) + 1.367 x log10(LDH/ULN) + 0.9393 x log10(WBC cells/µL). MIPI groups: <5.7; 5.7 to <6.2; >=6.2. MIPIb = MIPI + 0.02142 x Ki-67(%); boundaries 5.7 and 6.5.
Worked example
Age 60, ECOG 0 to 1, LDH/ULN 1 and WBC 10000 cells/µL gives 2.121 + 3.7572 = 5.8782, intermediate. Ki-67 30% adds 0.6426, giving biological MIPI 6.5208, high.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use WBC in x 10^9/L?
Yes. Select that unit and enter 10 for 10000 cells/µL. Using 10 directly inside the logarithm would be a major unit error.
Is the simplified MIPI the same number?
No. The simplified score uses integer points. This page reports the original continuous equation.
Can Ki-67 replace a missing LDH or WBC?
No. Biological MIPI adds Ki-67 to the complete clinical MIPI; all four clinical inputs are still needed.
