How this calculator works
The MedlinePlus chart compares wrist circumference with height bands; it does not use a universal ratio cutoff. The displayed height-to-wrist ratio is descriptive only. At the overlapping male boundary of 6.5 inches, this page assigns medium. Unsupported male heights and wrists are rejected rather than extrapolated. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.
Formula
Ratio = height/wrist in matching units. Female wrist boundaries in inches: height below 62 in, 5.5 and 5.75; height 62-65 in, 6 and 6.25; above 65 in, 6.25 and 6.5. Male boundaries above 65 in: 6.5 and 7.5.
Worked example
A woman 60 inches tall with a 5.6-inch wrist falls between 5.5 and 5.75 inches, giving medium. A man 70 inches tall with an 8-inch wrist is above 7.5, giving large.

Frequently asked questions
Does frame size set my ideal weight?
No. This rough chart does not account for muscle, body composition or an individual health history.
Where should I measure?
Wrap a flexible tape around the wrist and record its circumference without compressing the skin.
Why are some male measurements rejected?
The source provides no male category for height at or below 65 inches or wrists below 5.5 inches. No extra cutoffs are invented here.
