How this calculator works
This uses the VCH guideline exactly: the height increment is 0.91 kg per centimetre above 152.4 cm. That modified Devine version differs slightly from 2.3 kg per inch. The adjustment is not a weight-loss goal or a universal dosing weight. The page excludes heights below 152.4 cm and actual weights below ideal weight. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.
Formula
IBW = 50 + 0.91(Hcm - 152.4) for males, or 45.5 + 0.91(Hcm - 152.4) for females. AdjBW = IBW + 0.4(actual - IBW).
Worked example
A male 152.4 cm tall has IBW 50 kg. At 100 kg actual weight, adjusted weight is 50 + 0.4 x 50 = 70 kg.

Frequently asked questions
Why use 0.4?
It is the adjustment specified by this cited guideline. Different protocols can require a different weight method.
Can I enter adjusted weight instead?
Yes. The reverse mode solves the same linear equation for actual weight.
Does ideal mean healthiest?
No. It is the historical name of an equation, not an individual health assessment.
