How this calculator works
The starting density is 1800 kg/m3 for crushed limestone in the cited World Bank reference and supplier clean-stone data. The same reference gives 2600 kg/m3 for intact limestone. Density classes of dimension stone do not describe a truckload of aggregate.
Formula
A = L x W, pi x D^2 / 4, b x h / 2, or (front + back) x h / 2; Vnet = A x depth; Vorder = Vnet x (1 + waste); mass = Vorder x density; cost = tonnes x rate or Vorder x rate, plus fixed charges.
Worked example
A 10 m by 4 m layer 0.1 m deep is 4 m3. At 1800 kg/m3 without waste it weighs 7200 kg and costs $360 at $50 per tonne.

Frequently asked questions
Which density suits crushed limestone?
Use the delivered bulk density from the quarry. The 1800 kg/m3 example includes air spaces and can change with grading and moisture.
Can I estimate a solid block?
Yes. Enter the block dimensions, remove waste if unnecessary and replace density with tested stone data. The cited reference gives an indicative 2600 kg/m3 for intact limestone.
Does this classify low-density limestone?
No. ASTM dimension-stone density classes require test data for the specific stone. Do not select a class from a loose aggregate estimate.
