How this calculator works
Rate pressure product, also called the double product, is an indirect correlate of myocardial oxygen demand. Multiply paired heart rate and systolic pressure measurements from the same stage of rest or exercise. It does not measure oxygen consumption directly and has no universal diagnostic threshold. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.
Formula
RPP = heart rate (beats/min) × systolic blood pressure (mmHg).
Worked example
At 80 beats/min and 120 mmHg, RPP is 9,600. At peak exercise with 150 beats/min and 180 mmHg, it is 27,000.

Frequently asked questions
Should I mix resting pressure with peak heart rate?
No. Use readings from the same time or workload.
Is a higher value always bad?
No. The product normally rises during exercise; symptoms and workload matter.
Is RPP a direct oxygen measurement?
No. It is an indirect haemodynamic correlate.
