How this calculator works
The Duke score combines Bruce-protocol exercise duration, maximum absolute ST-segment deviation and an angina index. The index is 0 with no angina, 1 for non-limiting angina and 2 when angina stops exercise. Published categories are low at 5 or above, intermediate from -10 up to but below 5, and high below -10. Interpretation depends on an appropriate supervised exercise test. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.
Formula
Duke score = exercise duration(min) - 5 × ST deviation(mm) - 4 × angina index.
Worked example
Ten minutes, 1 mm ST deviation and no angina give score 5. Six minutes, 2 mm deviation and exercise-limiting angina give -12.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use another exercise protocol?
The original score uses Bruce treadmill minutes. Do not substitute another protocol without validated conversion.
Do I enter negative ST depression?
Enter the absolute magnitude of the maximum qualifying ST deviation.
Can this screen current chest pain at home?
No. It requires a clinically supervised exercise ECG and professional interpretation.
