How this calculator works
The change is measured against the old pay. Select the period that matches both amounts, then enter paid hours and weeks for a period-by-period comparison. A negative percentage models a pay cut. This is gross-pay arithmetic without a tax year; net pay can rise by a different percentage.
Formula
Raise percentage = (new pay - old pay) / old pay. New pay = old pay x (1 + raise). Increase = new pay - old pay.
Worked example
A rise from $50,000 to $55,000 is $5,000 or 10%. Over 2,000 paid hours the hourly equivalent rises from $25 to $27.50.
