Add days calculator

Choose a date and a number of days. In calendar mode every day counts; in working-day mode weekends and, if you choose, Canadian federal holidays are skipped.

Calculator

A whole number of days. In working-day mode the figure means working days rather than calendar days.

How this calculator works

Calendar mode converts the start date to its day number, adds the offset and converts back, so every date counts once, including weekends, holidays and February 29. Working-day mode walks forward or backward one date at a time, skips Saturday and Sunday, and optionally skips the ten Canadian federal statutory holidays. The calendar-days output then tells you how far the result actually moved, which is usually larger than the number of working days you asked for.

Formula

Calendar mode: result = fromOrdinal(O(start date) + n). Working mode: step one date at a time in the direction of n, counting a date only when its ISO weekday is 1 to 5 and, if chosen, its date is not a federal statutory holiday, until |n| dates have been counted. calendar days = O(result) - O(start date).

Worked example

2026-11-01 plus 30 calendar days is 2026-12-01, a Tuesday. Plus 30 working days on the same start date, skipping weekends but not holidays, is 2026-12-11, a Friday; skipping federal holidays as well gives 2026-12-14, a Monday, because Remembrance Day and Christmas Day fall on weekdays inside the walk.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the date calculator?

The date calculator only adds calendar days. This page can also add working days, which is what an order lead time, a service-level agreement or a project schedule usually means by "days".

Which holidays are skipped?

The ten federal statutory holidays under the Canada Labour Code, on their actual dates rather than the observed Monday. Provincial holidays, municipal days and employer substitutions are not included, so enter a separate count if one of those matters.

Why is the calendar span larger than the working days I asked for?

A five-day working week is only five sevenths of the calendar, so adding 30 working days moves the date about 42 calendar days before holidays are considered. The calendar-days output reports the actual movement.

Can I add a negative number?

Yes. A negative value moves backward in both modes, so you can find the date 20 working days before a deadline as well as after it.
