How this calculator works
The counter walks the interval one civil day at a time. Days whose weekday is on your exclusion list are removed first. A statutory holiday removes a day only when it falls on a day that would otherwise have been counted, so a holiday on a Saturday does not count twice when weekends are already excluded. The interval starts on the from date and stops before the to date unless you include it.
Formula
total days = O(to) - O(from), plus one when the end date is included. counted days = total days - excluded weekdays - holidays that fall on counted weekdays. Weekday numbers follow ISO 8601: 1 is Monday and 7 is Sunday.
Worked example
From 2026-12-01 to 2027-01-01, excluding Saturdays and Sundays and federal holidays: 31 days in the interval, 8 weekend days removed, and Christmas Day on Friday 25 December removed as a holiday. That leaves 22 counted days.

Frequently asked questions
Which holidays does it use?
The ten federal statutory holidays under the Canada Labour Code. Provincial and territorial holidays can differ, and observed dates can move a holiday to a nearby weekday when it falls on a weekend. If an observed date matters for payroll, check the rule for your province.
Why is Boxing Day not removed in the example?
Boxing Day 2026 falls on a Saturday, which is already excluded as a weekend day. The counter only removes a holiday when it would otherwise be counted, so the answer does not subtract the same day twice.
Can I count only one weekday?
Yes. Enter 1 to count Mondays only, or list several numbers to remove several weekdays. Leave the field empty to count every day.
Does Good Friday change every year?
Yes. It is two days before Easter Sunday, which follows the lunar calendar. The page computes Easter for each year in the interval with the anonymous Gregorian algorithm.
