How this calculator works
Working days here means calendar weekdays from Monday to Friday. The start date is included and the end date is excluded, so a Monday to the following Monday spans one full working week unless a holiday intervenes. Holidays are the observed dates you supply; no national or provincial calendar is assumed, which keeps the answer honest for shift workers, part-time schedules and cross-border teams.
Formula
For an interval of L calendar days, full weeks contribute 5 each. The leftover r days are checked from the start weekday w, Monday as 0, adding one when (w + j) mod 7 is 0 to 4. Unique weekday holidays inside the interval are then subtracted.
Worked example
From Monday 2026-11-02 to Monday 2026-11-09 is 5 working days. Placing a holiday on Saturday 2026-11-07 leaves the count unchanged.

Frequently asked questions
Does this support a four-day work week?
No. The schedule is fixed at Monday to Friday. A custom schedule would need a different rule for which weekdays count.
Why are weekend holidays ignored?
Weekends are never counted as working days, so subtracting a weekend date would double count the exclusion. Enter the date the holiday was observed if your workplace moved it to a weekday.
Does the result include both the first and last date?
The first date is included and the last date is excluded. Moving the end date forward by one day is the reliable way to include the final date.
