How this calculator works
A cubic centimetre is the volume of a cube with one-centimetre sides. A litre is one cubic decimetre. Ten centimetres along each edge produce 10 x 10 x 10 = 1,000 cubic centimetres per litre. The factors are exact and independent of the liquid inside.
Formula
litres = cc / 1000; cc = litres x 1000.
Worked example
A 1,600 cc engine displacement is 1.6 L. A 0.75 L bottle holds 750 cc.

Frequently asked questions
Is 1,000 cc exactly one litre?
Yes. This follows from the definitions of the centimetre and litre.
Does the liquid density matter?
No. Both cc and litres measure volume. Density matters only when converting volume to mass.
Is cc a mass unit?
No. One cc is one cubic centimetre. Its mass can differ greatly between materials.
