How this calculator works
Width times speed gives the theoretical swept area. Overlap reduces effective width; time efficiency allows for turns, fills and stops. An efficiency copied from a table may already include overlap, in which case set overlap to zero. Capacity does not account for weather delays between working days.
Formula
Capacity (m2/h) = width (m) × speed (m/s) × 3600 × (1 - overlap) × time efficiency. Time (h) = area/capacity. One hectare is 10000 m2; one acre is 4046.8564224 m2.
Worked example
A 2 m implement moving at 3.6 km/h with no overlap or time loss covers 7200 m2/h, or 0.72 ha/h. Covering 7200 m2 takes one hour.

Frequently asked questions
Why is actual capacity lower than width times speed?
Turning, refilling, obstacles and repeated coverage reduce productive work. Use a measured efficiency for your field conditions.
Can I use feet and miles per hour?
Yes. Select those input units; the calculation converts them before showing hectares and acres per hour.
Does this determine a safe operating speed?
No. Enter a suitable working speed for the implement, terrain and crop. Required speed is a planning result, not an operating recommendation.
