Pie chart calculator

Prepare sector sizes for a part-to-whole chart. Enter non-negative values that share a common unit and represent non-overlapping parts.

Calculator

Separate numbers with commas, spaces or new lines. Use one consistent unit.

How this calculator works

Each category receives a share of the total and the same share of a full 360-degree circle. Cumulative angle boundaries follow input order, beginning at zero degrees. A zero category has a zero-width sector; an all-zero list is undefined. The output is a sector table for drawing the pie, with no chart image. Negative quantities and overlapping categories do not make meaningful parts of one whole.

Formula

share_i = value_i/Σvalue; percentage_i = 100share_i; angle_i = 360share_i degrees.

Worked example

Values 2, 3, 5 total 10. Their shares are 20%, 30% and 50%, with angles 72°, 108° and 180°.

Frequently asked questions

Do the values need to be percentages?

No. Counts, amounts or already normalised weights work if their total is positive.

What if I omit names?

Rows receive sequential Category labels.

Can the shares describe unrelated totals?

A pie represents parts of one common whole. Separate totals need a different comparison.
