How this calculator works
Money can earn a return over time. This tool translates one balance between two dates using a fixed nominal annual rate and the selected compounding frequency. Its term units convert through a 365.25-day model year. There are no intervening cash flows. The continuous option uses exponential growth instead of discrete interest postings.
Formula
FV = PV x (1 + j/m)^(mt). For continuous compounding, FV = PV x exp(jt). Annual growth log L = m ln(1 + j/m), so PV = FV exp(-Lt).
Worked example
$1,000 at 10% with annual compounding becomes $1,210 in two years. At 0% the same investment remains $1,000 regardless of compounding frequency.
