How this calculator works
Regular hours and overtime hours are separate. The multiplier is applied only to overtime hours. The default 1.5 reflects a common Canadian overtime premium, but your province, occupation or collective agreement may use another rule. Enter paid hours already classified correctly. No statutory tax rates are used.
Formula
Regular pay = wage x regular hours. Overtime pay = wage x multiplier x overtime hours. Total = regular pay + overtime pay.
Worked example
$25 for 40 regular hours and five overtime hours at 1.5 times pay gives $1,000 regular pay, $187.50 overtime pay and $1,187.50 total.
