How this calculator works
A rectangular joint uses width times depth; a right triangular bead uses half that area. Multiply by total run length, increase by waste and divide by package net volume. Sika documents 310 mL cartridges and 600 mL unipacks. Other listed package labels are nominal volume conversions, not a claim that every product is sold in each size. Fluid ounces here are US volume units, not mass ounces.
Formula
Vnet = length x width x depth x section factor; factor = 1 for a rectangle or 0.5 for a right triangle; Vorder = Vnet x (1 + waste); packages = ceil(Vorder / package volume); coverage = packages x package volume / [(1 + waste) x width x depth x factor].
Worked example
A rectangular 10 m joint, 10 mm wide and 10 mm deep, needs 1 L net. With no waste, four 310 mL cartridges are required. A triangular bead of the same width and depth covers 6.2 m per cartridge.

Frequently asked questions
Does this set a suitable joint depth?
No. Use the sealant technical data for joint width-to-depth ratio, backing rod and movement capability. Reverse modes are geometric checks only.
Why round packages up?
Packages are purchased whole. The calculation prices every package needed to meet the volume including your waste allowance.
Can I enter a custom sausage or pail?
Yes. Select custom volume and enter the printed net contents. Do not convert a package mass to volume without the product density.
