How this calculator works
Choose the quantity to solve, then enter the other assumptions. Annual return is nominal under the selected compounding convention; inflation reduces the final purchasing-power amount. Cash flows can occur at period beginnings or ends, with optional smooth growth per payment. Only complete end periods create a payment; beginning payments also cover the start of a partial period. Lifetime is measured to the first scheduled withdrawal period reaching the chosen target. This is a deterministic projection, so it does not measure sequence-of-returns risk. The table uses the selected monthly or yearly display. Projection dates use 365.25-day model years, not a bank settlement calendar. No fees or taxes are deducted.
Formula
Balance = initial x exp(Lt) + sum of signed cash flows x exp(L x remaining time). L = m ln(1 + nominal rate/m), or the continuous rate. Real final balance = final/(1 + inflation)^years.
Worked example
INR 1,000 with INR 100 withdrawn at each year end remains INR 1,000 after two years at a 10% annual return. At 0%, the same fund lasts ten annual withdrawals.

Frequently asked questions
What happens when the fund runs out?
A chosen fixed-term plan rejects withdrawals that exhaust the fund too early. Lifetime mode allows a partial final withdrawal and identifies its period.
Are returns guaranteed?
No. A constant rate is an assumption; actual investment returns and inflation vary.
Why can a solved value be rejected?
A goal can require negative capital, a negative cash flow, an unreachable term or a return outside the numerical search range.
