How this calculator works
Multiply the unit price by the number sold in the measurement period. Enter allowances, discounts and returns as dollar totals, not percentages. Each deduction reduces gross sales. The duration mode scales gross and net revenue to another elapsed duration, assuming a constant sales pace. Months and years use the engine average durations rather than calendar dates.
Formula
Gross sales = price * quantity. Net sales = gross sales - allowances - discounts - returns. Revenue per chosen duration = period revenue * chosen duration / measurement duration.
Worked example
At $25 each, 400 products generate $10,000 of gross sales. Deduct $500 of allowances, $600 of discounts and $400 of returns for $8,500 net sales. Over 30 days that averages $283.33 net per day.

Frequently asked questions
Are sales taxes included?
Use selling prices excluding GST/HST or other taxes collected for government. The amounts here measure business revenue.
How is an allowance different from a return?
An allowance reduces the price while the customer keeps the goods. A return reverses the sale of goods sent back.
Can deductions exceed gross sales?
This simple period model requires non-negative net sales. Prior-period returns can produce negative reported sales but need a separate accounting reconciliation.
