How this calculator works

Use revenue, average employees and total hours worked for one common period. Labour time is the sum across all workers, not the length of one shift. Fractional headcount supports full-time equivalents. These are nominal revenue productivity measures, affected by prices and product mix. Official labour productivity normally uses real output or value added per hour.

Formula

Revenue per employee = period revenue / average employees. Revenue per labour hour = period revenue / total labour hours. The engine converts entered time to seconds; labour hours = seconds / 3600.

Worked example

$80,000 of revenue with 10 employees and 2,000 total labour hours gives $8,000 per employee and $40 per hour. A $60 hourly target over 500 hours requires $30,000 of revenue.

Frequently asked questions

Should I enter hours per employee?

Enter the total hours across the workforce. Ten employees each working 160 hours contribute 1,600 labour hours.

Why can employee count be fractional?

Average staffing and full-time equivalent counts often contain fractions. The calculation does not round the workforce target.

Does a higher dollar figure mean more physical output?

It may reflect higher prices or a different product mix. Compare real output per hour when measuring changes in production efficiency.
