How this calculator works
Choose a recurring monthly overpayment or a built-in accelerated weekly or biweekly schedule. The extra amount is paid every selected period. The baseline remains the original monthly payment with no extra amount. The schedule caps the last payment at the amount due and reports interest savings separately from fees. Check contractual prepayment privileges before using the plan.
Formula
Monthly base payment A = P × i / (1 - (1 + i)^(-N)). Accelerated biweekly base = A/2, weekly base = A/4. Planned payment = accelerated base + extra. Time saved = baseline years - accelerated payment count / payments per year. Interest saved = baseline interest - accelerated interest.
Worked example
At 0%, a $1,200 balance over twelve months needs $100 monthly. A $25 monthly overpayment pays it off in ten payments: nine of $125 and one of $75. Accelerated weekly payments of $25 clear it in 48 payments.

Frequently asked questions
Does acceleration change my interest rate?
No. This estimate changes payment timing and principal reduction while holding the nominal rate constant.
How often is the extra amount paid?
Every payment under the selected plan. A $100 weekly extra is much larger over a year than a $100 monthly extra.
Are fees included in interest saved?
No. Fees and points appear in total cash paid. The interest-saved figure isolates interest only.
