How this calculator works
The model begins at the start of a financial year and receives contributions at each month end. Interest accrues on the opening monthly EPF balance and is credited after 12 months. Employee contributions use full basic pay plus DA. Employer contributions can use full pay or the INR 15,000 wage ceiling. Eligible EPS allocation is 8.33% of capped wages rounded to rupees, up to INR 1,250 monthly and no more than the employer contribution. EPS is reported separately and earns no EPF interest here. Salary increases after each full year. Actual eligibility, higher-pension elections, rounding and future rates can change the result.
Formula
Employee EPF = salary x employee rate. Employer EPF = employer wage basis x employer rate - EPS. Annual interest = sum of 12 opening monthly EPF balances x annual rate/12. Closing balance = opening + EPF deposits + interest.
Worked example
At INR 15,000 monthly wages and 12% employee and employer rates, employee EPF is INR 1,800; EPS is INR 1,250 and employer EPF is INR 550. At 0% interest for one year, EPF deposits total INR 28,200, excluding INR 15,000 EPS.

Frequently asked questions
Is the 8.25% assumption a promise?
No. The editable interest rate is a planning assumption, not a guarantee of future declared rates.
Does EPS form part of the projected corpus?
No. EPS contributions are shown separately and are excluded from the EPF balance.
Does the model apply the wage ceiling to employee deposits?
Employee contributions use full entered pay. The optional INR 15,000 ceiling applies to employer deposits and the standard EPS calculation.
