How this calculator works

Select the offer and quantity to calculate to reveal its fields. Percentage and successive offers can recover an original price or missing rate from a known discounted merchandise price. Bundle pricing can recover a unit price from the bundle price and known saving. For a second- or third-item reduction, the discount applies to that numbered item. For two-for-one, three-for-two and four-for-three, the cheapest item is free. Successive coupons reduce the remaining price. Bundle offers compare one fixed price against the regular unit price times quantity. Choose whether prices already include tax. Enter shipping as the final shipping charge including any tax on shipping. Savings compare merchandise only; average item price excludes shipping.

Formula

Successive sale price = P x product(1 - d). Multi-buy sale price = sum of item prices - cheapest item. Bundle saving = quantity x regular unit price - bundle price. Checkout = discounted merchandise + tax if not already included + final shipping charge.

Worked example

$100 reduced by 20% is $80. At 13% tax and $5 shipping, checkout is $95.40. A two-for-one offer on items priced $100 and $80 charges $100 before tax, saving $80; at 13% tax and no shipping checkout is $113.

Frequently asked questions

Which item is free in a multi-buy?

The model makes the least expensive item free. Read the merchant terms if its offer uses another rule.

Does this handle coupon restrictions?

It assumes the displayed discounts apply to all specified merchandise and can be combined. Minimum spends, excluded brands and reward redemptions need separate checks.

Why can a bundle show negative savings?

A bundle may cost more than buying its units at regular price. Negative savings exposes that premium. Taxes and final shipping charges remain separate from the merchandise comparison.
