How this calculator works
A bar is exactly 100,000 Pa, while a standard atmosphere is exactly 101,325 Pa. Divide the pascal definitions to obtain the ratio. Neither multiplying by the ratio nor changing the unit converts absolute pressure into gauge pressure.
Formula
atm = bar x 100000 / 101325; bar = atm x 1.01325.
Worked example
5 bar is approximately 4.9346163336 atm. In the reverse direction, 2 atm is exactly 2.0265 bar.

Frequently asked questions
Is one bar one atmosphere?
They are close but different. One standard atmosphere is 1.01325 bar.
Why is the bar-to-atm result a little smaller?
An atmosphere is a larger pressure unit. It takes fewer atmospheres to represent the same pressure.
Can I use this for gauge readings?
Yes, if both numbers refer to the same gauge reference. To change the reference to absolute pressure, use the bar to psig tool.
