How this calculator works
One revolution covers the cutter circumference at the cutting edge. Table feed is rpm times effective teeth times advance per tooth. For turning, use the workpiece cutting diameter for rpm and treat feed per revolution separately.
Formula
rpm = Vc/(pi D), with Vc in m/min and D in m; table feed in m/min = rpm x teeth x feed per tooth in m.
Worked example
A 10 mm cutter at 100 m/min turns at 3183.09886 rpm. Four teeth at 0.1 mm per tooth give a table feed of 1.27323954 m/min.

Frequently asked questions
Are the defaults recommended cutting data?
No. They illustrate the relationship. Select speed and chip load from the tool supplier for the material and setup.
Why use effective teeth?
Some cutter arrangements do not advance the feed on every insert. Use the supplier effective tooth count.
Does this include machine limits?
No. Check maximum rpm, power, workholding, tool overhang and coolant requirements separately.
