How this calculator works
Molarity is moles of solute per volume of solution. First convert weighed solute to moles, then divide by the final mixed volume. Solvent volume alone is not the final volume because mixing and dissolution can change volume. Temperature changes can alter molarity through thermal expansion.
Formula
c = n/V = m/MV; using grams, g/mol and litres gives mol/L.
Worked example
5 g of a 100 g/mol solute in 100 mL final solution gives 0.5 mol/L. Preparing 1 L of 0.1 mol/L with M = 100 g/mol requires 10 g.

Frequently asked questions
Is molarity the same as molality?
Molarity uses solution volume; molality uses solvent mass.
What is the concentration output?
The molarity selector gives amount per volume. The separate g/L readout gives mass per volume.
Does a hydrate change the result?
Yes. Use the molar mass of the chemical form actually weighed, including water of crystallization.
