How this calculator works
Tecumseh gives a length correction for an available capillary internal diameter within 0.2 mm of the recommended diameter. The exponent is 4.5, and both diameters must use the same unit. Start with a manufacturer-supported original selection. This comparison does not determine refrigeration capacity, refrigerant charge, two-phase behaviour or operating temperatures. Tecumseh identifies roughly 1.5 to 3 m as a useful performance range and requires validation of the capillary and charge combination.
Formula
L_new = L_original (D_new/D_original)^4.5. Rearrange to recover either diameter or either length.
Worked example
Changing a 1.0 mm internal diameter to 1.1 mm with an original 2 m length gives 3.07112207 m. Keeping the diameter unchanged keeps the length unchanged.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a complete refrigeration design?
No. It substitutes a nearby bore around an already validated manufacturer selection.
Can I use an outside diameter?
No. Flow depends on the calibrated internal bore.
Why reject a larger diameter change?
The cited manufacturer limits this substitution rule to differences no greater than 0.2 mm.
