How this calculator works
Add the selected values and divide by their count. Every value has equal weight. The calculator adds the decimal spellings of the numeric inputs using integer arithmetic before one final conversion to a numeric mean. This avoids losing small terms during cancellation, but cannot restore digits lost when a very long number was entered.
Formula
Arithmetic mean = (v1 + v2 + ... + vn) / n, where 1 ≤ n ≤ 6.
Worked example
The six values 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 total 108, so their mean is 18. The mean of 1.5, 2.5 and 3 is 7/3, or about 2.33333.

Frequently asked questions
Do unused slots affect the answer?
Only the first selected number of slots enters the mean. Keep valid numbers in the remaining visible slots so input validation can complete.
Is this the median or mode?
No. The arithmetic mean uses the sum divided by the count. The median is the middle sorted value, and the mode is the most frequent value.
Can the mean fall outside the range of the values?
No. The mean always lies between the smallest and largest entered values. Negative values are allowed and reduce the total like any other value.
