How this calculator works

This inventory calculation uses your observed product volume per application and planned use frequency. The estimated depletion date starts at midnight on the supply start date and assumes constant daily use. The default 2 mL is an arithmetic example, not a recommended dose. Follow the product directions and use enough to cover all hand surfaces. CDC guidance says soap and water are preferred in many situations and recommends at least 60% alcohol when sanitizer is used. The result is an estimate for information only and is not medical advice.

Formula

Daily volume = people × applications per person per day × volume per application. Total = daily volume × days. Full bottles = ceiling(total / bottle size). Days supplied = available volume / daily volume.

Worked example

Ten people using 2 mL five times daily consume 100 mL/day. Thirty days need 3 L, or six 500 mL bottles. Three such bottles supply 15 days.

Frequently asked questions

Is a fixed application volume suitable for everyone?

No. Hand size, formulation and the dispenser matter. Measure actual use while following the label rather than reducing use to match a budget.

Does this estimate protection from COVID-19?

No. It plans stock only and does not quantify infection risk or the effect of hand hygiene.

Can I count partly used bottles?

Enter their combined usable volume as the bottle size and use a suitable whole bottle count, or plan with full replacement bottles.
