How this calculator works
A percent-off offer removes a share of the original price. The remaining share sets the reduced price. Enter 15 for a 15% reduction. Both results are calculated from the unrounded input, with no tax, coupon stacking or other charges included.
Formula
Amount removed = original price × discount fraction. Reduced price = original price × (1 - discount fraction). Convert the advertised percent to a fraction by dividing it by 100.
Worked example
An item marked $79.99 with 15% off is reduced to $67.99, saving $12.00 at display precision. An offer of 0% off a $20 item leaves the price at $20 with no saving.

Frequently asked questions
What does 25% off mean in dollars?
It removes one quarter of the original price. For a $100 item, the saving is $25 and the reduced price is $75 before tax.
Can I enter more than 100% off?
No. This model accepts 0% through 100%. A 100% offer removes the entire price; a larger value would imply a payment to the buyer.
What happens at 0% off?
The reduced price equals the original price and the amount removed is zero. The page accepts the full 0% to 100% range.
