How this calculator works
Reversing by characters flips the whole string end to end, so the last letter becomes the first and each word reads backwards. Reversing by words keeps every word intact and only swaps their order, which is the useful mode for spotting awkward phrasing or building an anagram puzzle. Reversing by lines does the same for a list, turning the last line into the first. Characters are counted as whole code points rather than UTF-16 units, so an emoji or an accented letter counts as one character and is not split into halves when it is reversed.
Formula
Characters: join the code points of the text in reverse order. Words: split on runs of whitespace, reverse the resulting list and join with single spaces. Lines: split on line breaks, reverse the list and join with line breaks.
Worked example
Mathulate calculators reversed by characters is srotaluclac etaluhtaM. Reversed by words it is calculators Mathulate, and a three line list comes back with its last line first.

Frequently asked questions
Does reversing text help with spelling?
Sometimes. Reading a word backwards forces you to look at every letter rather than recognising the shape, which surfaces doubled and transposed letters. It works best on short words and acronyms.
Why are my accented letters intact?
The tool reverses whole code points, so a letter with a diacritic stays a single unit. When a character is built from several code points, such as a family emoji, the pieces stay in their original order inside the character.
Is reversed text the same as mirror writing?
No. Reversed text changes the order of characters but each letter keeps its normal shape. Mirror writing also flips the shape of each letter, which needs a font designed for it.
What is the length limit?
Two thousand characters, which is plenty for a paragraph or a list. Longer text is rejected rather than silently cut.
