How this calculator works
The 60 degree profile defines a fundamental triangle and its basic crest and root truncations. This page reports basic geometry, with limits for the diameters whose deviations and tolerance widths you supply. A manufactured external root depends on its permitted rounding and is not defined by the basic minor diameter alone.
Formula
H = sqrt(3)P/2; d2 = d - 3H/4; D1 = d - 5H/4; basic radial engagement = 5H/8. External maximum = basic+es; minimum = maximum-T. Internal minimum = basic+EI; maximum = minimum+T.
Worked example
M10 x 1.5 gives H = 1.29903811 mm, pitch diameter 9.02572142 mm, basic minor diameter 8.37620237 mm and radial engagement 0.81189882 mm.

Frequently asked questions
Is the minor diameter a tap-drill recommendation?
No. Tap-drill selection depends on engagement, process and material. Use the tooling manufacturer recommendation.
Are tolerance classes included?
No. Enter controlled ISO 965 deviations and widths. The default zero values describe the basic profile only.
Does the table specify external root radius?
No. Root form, root radius and external minor-diameter limits need the applicable design profile and standard.
